Ribal Al-Assad discusses the challenges and opportunites facing Syria with Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke

Ribal Al-Assad, Director of the ODFS, yesterday had a meeting with new Conservative MP, Charlie Elphicke, in the House of Commons. They discussed many topics relating to the Middle East, but focused largely on press and internet freedoms in Syria. The regime's suppression of these basic freedoms is well documented by organisations such as Reporters Without Borders and Amnesty International.

Commenting on the meeting, Ribal said "It was a great pleasure to meet Charlie. We had an excellent discussion about the challenges and opportunities facing Syria, and I am delighted to have the support of such an impressive new Member of Parliament."
